    In Pursuit of Happiness
I’ve been temping for two weeks & so consequently I have MONEY. Very very useful in the pursuit of reducing overdraft & seeing boyfriend. I have to reduce it to £1000 by June otherwise my bank starts to charge me huge amounts of interest. So as well as spending money on reducing bank overdraft, I’ve ordered a light blue bikini & got my hair cut today.

If you think there’s not much you can do to make good hair look amazing (or unruly hair even vaguely good), I beg to differ –my usual Toni & Guy (Weybridge) hairdresser has the knack of always making my hair look good whenever I go to see him but today he made it particularly great. He blow-dried my hair wavy & made it bigger, more wavy & surprisingly glamorous. Even my Dad (cynic that he is) & a random shop assistant at Boots were impressed. Shallow girly ramblings, I know but Toni&Guy haircuts are definitely worth the money. Highly recommended, particularly if you want to impress.

I also took my camera film to be developed at Boots. The film contains such wondrous things as: cute pics of boyfriend in present day clothes, cute pics of boyfriend in re-enactment clothes, pics of the 2nd most attractive man in the world and his band at the Leeds Festival & pictures of Ramsgate. I will hopefully remember to bring said photos with me next weekend because GirlAlex has been pestering me for them. She too is very appreciative of Franz Ferdinand in the “we love their music” sense as well as the “(girlie scream) Alex! / Nick!” sense.

So anyway, today I got haircut & camera film, watched TV (music channels & various Hitch Hiker’s Guide film star interviews – am looking forward to seeing the film) and…(preferred?) career research.

I saw an ad in NME this week advertising music courses in Guildford. ACM is a national music training school – it’s the pop & rock equivalent of places like Guildhall School of Music of Drama (which I attended for a couple of years) & the Royal Academy of Music, ie. v. prestigious and for those are serious about music. I’m thinking of signing up for 1 week’s Pop Academy summer course (which includes vocal training, performance & image consultation) & then seeing what happens, as I would like to get my voice rated by a professional with some suggestions for improving it. I think I have an OK voice but it needs to be stronger & I need to have a heck of a lot more confidence to be able to perform, so hopefully this course will be a good starting point. It will help me decide if whether I really am cut out for the music business at least. I’d also like to do a part-time songwriting course there too.

By the way, CONGRATULATIONS TO ZED on getting to do that Phd with the British Antarctic Survey…and yes, I think you should change your livejournal name from pelicanzed to penguinzed when you start it!

Other news from the past month or so…
GirlAlex has a boyfriend – they started going out last week & so much love, mutual appreciation & adoration is in the air…

One of my brothers has landed himself at least two weeks work experience with a top international property company.

I was in Canterbury last weekend to visit rufas –
Friday night: spent with rufas, GirlAlex & Zed at Indie Night, Penny Theatre. Accidently got a bit tipsy due to mixing wine with spirits. But didn’t feel bad the morning after.
Saturday: breakfast, lunch (at caffe uno), dinner, DVD (Churchill: The Hollywood Years) with rufas.
Sunday: rufas does renacting, while I watch Pretty In Pink at GirlAlex’s.
And all the moments in between was engaged in soppy, pukesome couple behaviour with rufas, yadda yadda yadda :P

Apologies for the long journal entry. I’m not normally in the mood to update, so when I do, the entries seem to be long.

    Current Mood: contemplative
Current Music: In Pursuit of Happines - The Divine Comedy
